An SCR system only works properly if four things agree with each other: the pump’s building the pressure the ECU expects, the injector’s dosing the amount it’s told to, the NOx sensors upstream and downstream of the catalyst are both reading accurately, and the heater’s keeping fluid usable in the cold. An AdBlue warning light tells you one of these has drifted outside its expected range it doesn’t tell you which specific part caused that drift, and that gap is where most repeat repairs go wrong.
The most common version of this we see: a pressure-related code gets read literally as “pump’s failed,” a new pump gets fitted, and the fault’s back within a couple of weeks because the actual cause was a blocked filter restricting flow, crystallised urea partially blocking a line, or a wiring fault feeding the sensor bad data, and the pump was never the problem.
