There’s a version of this that’s just deleting software the ECU stops watching the system, but the parts stay bolted in. Removal is the other end of that spectrum entirely: the tank comes out, the pump comes out, the lines get pulled, and the ECU gets told none of it exists anymore.

Strip that hardware out of a vehicle still driving on public roads and its actual emissions change which is exactly the kind of thing checked at MOT.
The vehicle's build, use case, or end-of-life plan means SCR hardware genuinely serves no purpose anymore motorsport, static use, salvage, or export.
